Where Python Programming Came From and Where It's Going

By Jeff Sanders

It is a fact that, Python is the most highly adapted and supported programming language as of late. Look all the way back to the beginning, coders have been at awe of what Python is capable of. It is believed amongst most experts, that the full features and capability of Python has yet to be seen by the development community. So, it is no surprise that it has been considered one of the top 10 programming languages in the world. It's leaked in at #9, but will be climbing to the top quickly due to it's class methods and easy syntax.

Where Python Came From

Mr. Guido Van Rossum is the man responsible for creating Python, spending many years developing his first working versions. It is believed that he first began his work on the programming syntax in December 1989. It wasn't until over two years later, in February of 1991 that he released the first working version of the amazing language. The official release date was February 20th, 1991.

The Category Python Belongs To

Python belongs to the category of high level programming languages and it is a general purpose coding language. Readability is the top aspect of Python, that means it was built to be easy to understand by new users, a low learning curve that is. Python is described as being concise, expressive, and clear; this is not typically the top three descriptions you expect to hear about a coding language. It's extensive functions library comes built in, making certain redundant tasks easy to replicate and simplify. There happen to be Python training videos now out there to learn all the ins and outs to be certified in the language.

Fastest Growing Open Source Language

A dataset of metrics regarding programming languages usage, known as Ohloh, was recently compiled by a company called Black Duck Software. These Ohloh dataset stats show that this language is trumping usage volume, proving Python to be a front-runner.
