Making Your Family Security Priority One

By Bryant S. Cole

Most everyone will admit that a lot of what we do daily, we do for the good of not just ourselves, but also our family. Some would even say this is their driving force. We work harder and smarter to give them more. The emergency fund or rainy day money is for just that; an emergency. We continually build a security wall or shield to protect what is important to us; our family members and loved ones, to keep them safe. It is also just natural to re-examine our efforts and if possible find new and safer methods and use them to their fullest potential for our loved ones, both in the present and in the future.

Many things are just plain common knowledge, such as childhood inoculations that are necessary at certain timeframes in a child's young life that will help them reach a healthy adulthood. Without these vaccines, tragedy could easily become a family reality. It is very important, now more than ever that your child is protected at every level.

Another area of our lives that we must guard with our lives, is the important documents, personal papered information such as bank statements, credit or debit card receipts, insurance information as well as life valuables that cannot ever be replaced because they are very personal and one of a kind. These too need protecting and made as secure as possible.

Thankfully right now there are options other than just having papers that you save. Paper is so fragile and can so easily be lost or destroyed. In the past people would sometimes keep a small safe at home. Some would put their valuable certificates in a metal box to keep it safe. Later on people realized that a safety deposit box was a smart way to go.

Safety deposit boxes have often been described as glorified metal boxes that fall under the relatively secure location within a bank. However, due to the assaults of Mother Nature through fire, flooding and the many natural disasters that happen frequently, there is always the chance that your documents and valuables can be destroyed. Direct deposit boxes have a high degree of protection against unauthorized persons, but other factors make these boxes vulnerable and never 100% safe.

There is another way to securely store and save your important documents that is both smart and convenient. It all starts with scanning the documents and using the internet which is both quicker and easier once you get the hang of it. You can cancel all your trips to the bank to retrieve any necessary documents that must be physically presented. Once you have scanned the documents they can be stored via an encrypted channel. You can upload all your important documents to a very highly secure location as well as have 24/7 access to this location from anywhere, which is very convenient.
