Why would I purchase an Android smartphone?

By Alan Sutton

Android has come a long since 2005 when Google bought a relatively unknown company called Android Inc. During the period of 10 years Google opened up the operating system and let anyone get a hold of, alter, personalize, use and share it totally free.

Freedom stands out as the keyword that separates Android from all other smartphones on the market. Apple keeps a tyrannical like clasp on its iPhone and Blackberry isn't much different. In comparison you're able to install any application you would like with an Android phone. The app marketplace is not limited by what someone within the review department evaluates to be admissible.

Due to this level of freedom, app builders are abandoning Apple and embracing the freedom which creating for Android delivers. Nowadays there are thousands of applications available, some of them are actually practical! For instance the out of the box messaging application is nothing to scream about on the Android nevertheless it doesn't have to be since there are over a dozen free of charge applications that you can download that will replace the default texting application. This degree of modification and choice is just not available on other smartphones where the makers want to tie you down to only their applications.

Because it is less difficult for coders to create programs and because there is more competition you will notice that many programs you need to purchase on the iPhone and Blackberry are free of charge on the Android, or at least there'll be a free 'lite' edition offered therefore you are saving on the price of customizing your phone.

In case you are anything like the typical Internet user you almost certainly use several Google web services such as Gmail, Gtalk, Drive and Search. Although you can use these services on other phones, the Android OS has built apps that incorporate and synchronize seamlessly with your Android. For example, say you add a brand new Friend into your address book, Android is intelligent enough to sync your Google contacts list so if you ever misplace your android then all your important contact details is stored in Google's cloud services.

Protection is probably a major aspect and with smart phone usage rising, fraudsters and unlawful gangs are actively trying to gain access to the sensitive information people keep on their cell phones.. Although you could get some good safety for Android you can be assured that Google has always got your back using its remote kill switch ability to eliminate any harmful applications that may have found their way in to your android.

Finally there is the important factor of choice. With an iPhone you are tied to one unit, not terrific if you would like to express yourself. The Blackberry targets business people and the designs are far from impressing. On the other hand because the Android Operating System is a open source OS which you can use without royalties, many major cellular phone producers are creating Android based smartphones. You now have a choice of brand, choice of dimensions, choice of features and above all find a cell phone which fits your budget.
