By Paul Adler

There is more out there that goes bump in the night than what's under your bed or in your wardrobe. Nowhere else is that more clear than in Resident Evil 5, the latest version of the favored horror survival game franchise, Resident Evil. You can often gauge a games rise in the ranks when it jumps from one medium to the other. They made a flick or 2 (or three) about this one did they not with huge stars? In spite of the movie kudos, gameplayers still like to stick with what they know and create their own destiny with the video game series. Resident Evil 5 has been released for the Xbox 360 but also has a later date of release in 2009 for the Playstation 3.

Here is a small back story for people that don't know. As you can guess something baleful has happened to get this entire ball of wax off and rolling. In the first Resident Evil, the tale happens in Raccoon Town involving the unethical experiments of a company called the Umbrella Co.. The company made a biological called the T-virus. As with all hideous nightmarish tales, the experiments go bad and infect each living species in and around Raccoon City.

The original team sent in to investigate blood-thirsty zombies and mutated animals is known at STARS, Special Tactics and Rescue Service, Congratulations team. As might be imagined, they get felled by living dead so that the Alpha team is sent to save them. And, the story continues through a few Resident Evil games until you reach the latest release. Each game builds on the first storyline and most happened within days of the other versions. Starting with Resident Evil 4, the location for doing battle is not Raccoon Town. In Resident Evil 5 characters are whipped away to Africa to once more clean up after the Umbrella Concern.

The Xbox 360 has the hi-def feature for augmented 3D graphics and fact of play. Game players have been able to play as one or two characters during the past. Once the final boss battle was played another player was unfastened and play began again as another character. This game features over-the-shoulder play as Chris Redfield with the help of his colleague Sheva Alomar. New to the Resident Evil 5 game is the ability to control either or both players which was never the case before. Achievement in the mission depends on both players collaborating. Additionally , the game can be played in a multiplayer role on and offline for more excitement. While playing online with another, the screen splits to see the game from the viewpoint of both.

Fans of the first Resident Evil will go head-over-heels for this one with the new features offered by the Xbox 360 and continuing story in accordance with the rest of the Nintendo game franchise. The game is rated M for mature due to heaps of blood and gore and intense violence.
