5 Ideas That Will Make You Think About Printers

By Paul Boever

Do you print hundreds, if not thousands of documents every day at home or at work? Do you find yourself with piles of empty toner cartridges at the end of every work week? In this economy, very few people can afford to waste. If you'd like to create less waste but simply cannot afford to go paperless, consider recycling your empty toner cartridges! There are countless ways to ensure that your used toner cartridges don't end up at the dump, and you can continue printing guilt free.

The first thing to think about is refilling your toner cartridges once they are empty. Make sure to do a little bit of researching; some cartridges simply aren't made for refilling. Any kit you purchase should include all of the tools you'll need to do it at home or at the office, as well as a step by step guide. Many cartridges come with an "unplug and pour" option, but others will require you to make a small hole before you can pull the plug and refill the cartridge. Make sure the kit you purchase has the tools you'll need to refill your specific type of cartridge.

Once you have unplugged the hole or made a new one, make sure to shake the toner bottle extremely well. Doing this will help the toner to flow more quickly. If you leave air space while pouring the toner, you'll be able to fill the empty cartridge with the greatest of ease. Make sure to carefully clean up the exterior of the cartridge and seal the hole. The kit you use should provide you with a rubber piece that keeps the toner from leaking out during use.

Refilling your empty cartridges will save you money, but it does not seem worth it to some. If you are one of those people, you should consider selling them to a remanufacturing company. These remanufactures have set up websites that make the process extremely easy for you; you send in the empty cartridges, and receive money in the mail. If they do not send you money directly, they will offer you deals on a new toner cartridge. In this scenario, everyone gets something out of it!

You may have a warehouse full of empty cartridges, but no desire or need for new or refilled ones. If this sounds like it could be you, you should let your entrepreneurial mind to the talking and get to work! Once you know how to refill a toner cartridge, you can run a business out of your home; all you need is the toner! As long as you do a good job, everyone wins!

No one likes to know that they're polluting the earth on a daily basis. Sometimes, it can't be helped; most businesses need to print thousands of pages a day in order to stay afloat. If you're struggling with the pileup of empty cartridges, try the above methods. Your wallet will thank you! Hopefully you will be inspired to move towards greener pastures and put a little more thought into choosing the right toner cartridge for you.
