Easy-Does-It - Learning How To Build Apps

By Bell Hunter

If you want to learn how to build an app in a practical manner, I can give you three pointers.

The first thing you can do would be to arm yourself by reading as much as you can on the subject. With all that information, you will then implement whatever you've read. A good source of reading material would be found in libraries since there are many books on the topic nowadays. You can also refer to internet and online sources. It is a given that if you are truly interested in finding out the intricacies of building an app, you should invest a lot of your time reading up on the subject. Actually, there are two major forms of reading you will have to undertake in this regard. There are programming languages that are used in building in app. The first form of reading is devoted to studying said languages. Since most apps are used on mobile computing devices, you need to develop a proficiency in programming languages, particularly Java and C++. These programming languages can be hard to learn. But they are also very rewarding once you get a hang of them. As for the second form of reading, the emphasis would be on the intricacies of actually building the app. Just being a good Java or C++ programmer may not be enough for you to develop apps. You would still have to do some more reading on more varied topics before you become good enough to come up with useful apps.

The next way would be to make use of online forums. Here you will be able to get many information from app builders who are willing to share their notes on how to build an app. From the conversations there, you can soon start getting ideas on how to go about building apps (including the finer nuances of the whole thing). But you still need to have done some reading prior to entering these forums if you want to at least understand most of the things being shared in these conversations. Otherwise you may find yourself unable to make sense of the issues discussed by the proficient app developers in the forums. These forums will be a huge help, but only if you did your job and got started on your app-development studies.

The third practical way in which you can learn how to go about building an app is by simple experimentation. With your understanding of programming languages, you can go about experimenting and playing around as you learn more about the art of building apps. An app developer should be creative enough in order to come up with good apps. If he experiments, he will be able to hone his creative side even more. The trial and error learning method also teaches you how to handle challenges and how to solve problems dynamically.

Regardless of the method you choose to learn how to build an app, you will only become truly proficient if you practice the concepts learnt thoroughly. Programming plays a central role in developing an app. In order to become a good programmer, you need to practice constantly.
