The Greatest Myths About Cartridges

By John Malen

Almost every household in this nation owns at least one printer. In order to do all sorts of things, including turning in schoolwork, filling out a variety of forms, and even making copies of photos, printers are a necessity. Oftentimes, however, when individuals buy new printers, they do not think about how much money it will cost to keep the device working correctly. Replacing the ink cartridges in printers is one of the most significant expenses that owners face.

The frequency with which your printer will need new ink cartridges primarily depends upon how often you print things. For instance, if you have a home business that requires you to print hundreds of pages on a daily basis, you will need to replace your ink cartridges fairly frequently. If, though, you print just a page or two every week, they will not run out of ink nearly as quickly. You must remember, though, that there are plenty of ways to save money when it comes to buying replacement ink cartridges.

1. One excellent way to conserve money is to purchase generic ink cartridges. People frequently think that these options won't work as well as brand-name cartridges, but this is not normally the case. Also, they will cost you much less money. An excellent way to gauge how brand-name and generic cartridges compare to one another is to research how many documents a single cartridge is supposed to allow you to print.

You will probably be shocked to learn that they are frequently able to print identical numbers of documents. Oftentimes, after consumers are aware of this, they permanently switch to buying generic ink cartridges. This is an extremely popular way to save money when it comes to buying this expensive item.

2. Shopping online is another great way to save money when it comes to buying ink cartridges. Often, the prices charged by online retailers will be less than those charged by any retailers in your town. This is true of both generic and brand-name ink cartridges. Also, people who shop on the internet are often able to buy their ink cartridges in bulk, which generally gives you the chance to save even more money. You will, however, have to find somewhere to store these extra ink cartridges until you need them.

3. Many people also save money by refilling their empty ink cartridges at home. Typically, it is far less costly to buy ink cartridge refill kits than it is to purchase entirely new cartridges. Most ink cartridges can be refilled and reused multiple times.
